と云うわけで、危機にある paradigm から新しいものへの移行は、 新しい基本からその分野を reconstruct することであり、 その分野の最も基本的な理論的前提と、paradigm的方法やその適用の多くを変える事である。 この移行 transition が完了すると、 its view of the field, its method, and its goal といったものをすっかり変えてしまう。

即ち scientific revolution を incommensurable な paradigms 間の恣意的な選択であると定義する事で、 pre-revolution と post-revolution の伝統に属する科学者は決定的に異なった世界に住んでいるということがいえるのだ。 normal science は優れて community like なものであったが、 scientific revolution が revolution と呼ばれるまさにその所以で inter-community に対して開かれることになる。 それは天啓にも似た外部の導入である。 こうした刹那のみ、科学の独我論的 self-consistence な図式は崩壊する。
